The Epilepsy Surgery that we carry out allows the approach of Epilepsy of the temporal lobe.
We treat patients with refractory or medically intractable epilepsy, that with lack of satisfactory control of epileptic seizures, despite adequate medical treatment with the maximum tolerated doses.
Patients with refractory epilepsy criteria are submitted to a surgical pre-evaluation, which includes carrying out the studies considered necessary to determine the area of epileptogenesis and including electroencephalographic video monitoring in the Telemetry Unit.
The techniques used:
• Temporary anterosial lobectomy adjusted by intraoperative electrocorticography.
• Neocortical and multilobular resection.
• Functional hemispherectomy.
• Anterior and posterior callosostomy.
• Multiple subpial transection.
