According to estimates by the multilateral entity, there are more than 13 million deaths a year worldwide as a result of preventable environmental causes. Among these preventable events, the WHO included the climate crisis, which it defined as “the greatest threat to health facing humanity.” “The climate crisis is also a health crisis,” he stressed.

It is for this reason that the WHO, within the framework of this April 7, made “an urgent call” to world leaders and the general population to apply “urgent measures to preserve and protect health and mitigate the climate crisis as part of the ‘Our planet, our health’ campaign that marks the organization’s founding day, which falls at a time of heightened conflict and fragility.”
