A recognition of relevance constitutes the decision of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to award its “Medal for Inventors” to the authors of four Cuban vaccines against the covid-19 pandemic.

The Sovereign 01, the Sovereign 02, Abdala and Mambisa are the ones selected for their stimulation, the Master of Science María de los Ángeles Sánchez Torres, General Director of the Cuban Office of Industrial Property (OCPI), exclusively informed ACN. He explained that the stimulation is due to their contributions to national economic and technological development and that they will be delivered shortly by Daren Tang (Singapore), Director General of WIPO, a UN agency based in Geneva, Switzerland.

He announced that Tang will travel to Havana at the head of a delegation from his group to present the medals this Monday to the main creators of Cuban anti-COVID-19 immunogens. Then, the inventions and their groups of Soberana 01, the Finlay Institute of Vaccines and the Center for Molecular Immunology will be awarded; as well as those of Soberana 02, the Finlay Institute of Vaccines, the Center for Molecular Immunology and the University of Havana.
